Keith Urban Gets Inducted Into The Grand Ole Opry

He's one of country music's biggest names and now Keith Urban has been given another prestigious honor to add to his already-impressive credentials.

The 44-year-old "Sweet Thing" singer was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday night (April 21) after a Nashville performance on the famous stage.

After receiving the honor, Urban showed his appreciation, saying, "Thank you very much! Yee haw! That is awesome! This is a responsibility that I take deep to the heart of me, I honor the history of country music, but I absolutely fully dedicate myself to the future of country music, as well."

During his emotional acceptance speech, Urban thanked the Grand Ole Opry's members, wife Nicole Kidman, their two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, his fans and, of course, his parents, who he credits for getting him "into country" and driving him "to all the gigs."

Keith, who was born in New Zealand but raised in Australia, is the first non-American to be inducted into the prestigious Opry.
