Boullier: No tests contributing to show
Lotus team boss Eric Boullier believes that the lack of testing in Formula 1 is a part of what is making the races so unpredictable this year. The 2012 season has generated a record six different winners in the first six races, making it one of the sport's most exciting starts to a campaign in recent years. Although the new Pirelli tyres have been highlighted as the main reason for the unpredictability, Boullier believes that the fact that teams cannot test their updates before the race weekends is a big contributing factor
Microsoft releases sexy Bing app for iPad
Just as a regular search on bing.com will, the Bing app for iPad tailors the results it displays based on what you're searching for. There are loads of custom views, covering everything from movies and maps to weather and shopping. The app also offers a heads-up display of currently trending searches, complete with related images, which is an iPad-exclusive feature.
Navigation is a breeze thanks to multitouch controls, allowing users to flick or swipe through results. And while the development team refers to the app as "touch and decide," Bing Voice Search is also built in -- making it easy to start a query without using the iPad's on-screen keyboard.
The Bing app for iPad is available for download now from the App Store.

Beyonce's 'Run The World' Started Off As 'A Joke'?
'It was a song we did, kind of like a funny, kind-of-a-joke song,' Diplo tells BBC Radio of B's 2011 single, which sampled his Major Lazer song.

<P>This may come as a surprise to devoted disciples of the Queen B, but according to producer Diplo, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyoncé</a>'s 2011 single "<a href="http://www.mtv.com/videos/beyonce/654804/run-the-world-girls.jhtml#artist=1236911">Run the World (Girls)</a>" actually started as "a joke."</P><P>"I think a lot of people don't even realize where that song came from," Diplo told <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/17907948" target="_blank">BBC Radio's Newsbeat</a>. "That song never really had a push. It was a song we did, kind of like a funny, kind-of-a-joke song."</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Beyoncé - "Run The World (Girls)"" id="vid:654804" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P><a href="/news/articles/1664181/beyonce-run-the-world-girls-video.jhtml">"Run the World"</a> was released as the first single from Bey's much-anticipated <a href="/news/articles/1666507/beyonce-4-album.jhtml"><i>4</i> album</a>, though it was met with a slightly <a href="/news/articles/1664218/beyonce-run-the-world-girls-video.jhtml">puzzled reaction</a> from some of her die-hard fans and failed to generate much heat on the charts, reaching only #29 on the <i>Billboard</i> Hot 100. Subsequent singles "Best Thing I Never Had" and "Love on Top" fared slightly better, going as high as #16.</P><P>Of course, Diplo isn't actually credited as a producer on "Run the World" (that honor would go to The-Dream, Switch, Beyoncé herself and Shea Taylor), but he did snag a writing credit, thanks to the song's hefty sample of his Major Lazer track "Pon de Floor." But he did produce the <i>4</i> track "End of Time" and remembered the experience as a surreal one.</P><P>"We had to finish up a few records we were working with her on," Dip said. "That was super-weird, man. Like, I remember we were in the studio working with her and I <i>still</i> couldn't believe it."</p>

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a> apparently wants to go shopping in preparation for her next concert in Bangkok — for a fake Rolex.</P><P>At least that's what she told her 24 million Twitter followers upon her arrival in Bangkok on Wednesday (May 30). "I just landed in Bangkok baby! Ready for 50,000 screaming Thai monsters. I wanna get lost in a lady market and buy fake Rolex."</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Lady Gaga Will Bring a 'Personal' Touch To 'Born This Way' Tour" id="vid:717952" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>The tweet sparked instantaneous uproar on various social media and web forums, as many local residents felt the comment was insulting, abrasive and generally damaging to the reputation of Thailand. Gaga has yet to apologize for the tweet.</P><P><blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>I just landed in Bangkok baby! Ready for 50,000 screaming Thai monsters. An official at the ministry's Intellectual Property Department recently told <i>Reuters</i> that: "Lady Gaga is a representative of the U.S. and the U.S. puts pressure on smaller countries to promote the protection of intellectual property," adding that "she should tell her fans that they shouldn't use fake goods."</P><P>The controversial message has also been addressed by members of Thailand's music industry. Thai DJ Suharit Siamwalla responded by tweeting: "We are more civilized than you think," then added that he now plans to boycott Gaga's show on Friday.</P><P>It seems that Mother Monster just can't seem to stay out of trouble as her <i>Born This Way</i> Ball makes its way across Asia. The Thailand controversy comes almost immediately after she had to <a href="/news/articles/1685092/lady-gaga-cancels-show-indonesia.jhtml">cancel a show in Indonesia</a>, and then responded to various <a href="/news/articles/1685564/lady-gaga-islam-threat-indonesia-concert.jhtml">Islamic threats surrounding that show</a>.</P><P>Not all fans have taken umbrage with Gaga's latest comments. Lady Gaga Responds To Islamic Threats Over Indonesia Show
Gaga's tour promoters are negotiating with government officials for Jakarta concert to go forward despite threats from extremist groups.

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml"> Lady Gaga</a> has responded to the increasingly volatile situation surrounding her "Born This Way" concert in Indonesia, saying on Twitter that she has been asked by authorities to censor her show and has received threats of violence from Islamic hardliners should it go on as planned.</P><P><a href="/news/articles/1685092/lady-gaga-cancels-show-indonesia.jhtml">Earlier reports indicated</a> that Gaga's planned June 3 concert at Jakarta's Gelora Bung Karno Stadium had been canceled after Indonesian national police refused to issue a permit, citing objections from Islamic groups who worried that Gaga's performance would corrupt the nation's youth. However, Gaga's tour promoters are currently negotiating with government officials and police for the concert to go forward as planned.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Lady Gaga Will Bring a 'Personal' Touch To 'Born This Way' Tour" id="vid:717952" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>"The Jakarta situation is 2-fold: Indonesian authorities demand I censor the show & religious extremist separately, are threatening violence," Gaga <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/ladygaga/status/204810085438984192">tweeted</a> Tuesday (May 22). "If the show does go on as scheduled, I will perform the BTWBall alone."</P><P>Fifty thousand tickets for the show have been sold.</P><P>While Indonesia is a secular state governed as a multi-party representative democratic republic, it has the world's largest population of Muslims, most of whom practice a moderate form of the religion. However, there are also more extremist fringe groups that have in recent years become increasingly vocal, particularly regarding Western entertainers visiting the country. Beyonc é, for example, was <a href="http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,298736,00.html" target="_blank">permitted to perform</a> in Indonesia — the world's fourth most populous nation — on the condition she agreed to dress more conservatively.</P><P>But these groups' problems with Gaga extend beyond her wardrobe. The country's top Islamic body, the National Ulema Council (MUI), has said it objects to the concert not only because of her provocative costumes, but because it considers her lyrics to be "blasphemous," according to the <a href="http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5ic8EgZisBRUuvNPTU_HDXrzTiMtA?docId=CNG.c8ee78b51ef9bf3593b67500bd8a8817.3d1"><i>AFP</i></a>.</P><P>"Lady Gaga is considered an icon for liberal culture and Indonesia's freedom is not without limits," MUI official Asrorun Niam told <i>AFP</i>. "There are restrictions related to norms, morals and religion."</P><P>A more militant group, the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), said it would "create havoc" if the pop star's performance went ahead, calling her the "devil's messenger." The <a href="http://www.thejakartaglobe.com/home/hard-line-fpi-buys-150-tickets-to-stop-lady-gaga-concert/519194" target="_blank"><i>Jakarta Globe</i></a> reports the FPI have purchased 150 tickets to the concert, promising to enter the venue and stop the concert.</P><P>A spokesperson for FPI stressed that the group would not attack the audience, as their only target was Gaga and her crew. The group posted to its Facebook page a photo of a member wearing a turban and sunglasses to conceal his face, holding a ticket to the show with a caption reading, "We have gotten Lady Gaga tickets, not to watch but for us to enter. Whatever will be will be, we're ready for the risk."</P><P>"Hopefully, the concert is canceled," the FPI has said. The group previously threatened to intercept Gaga in transit from the airport if she even enters Indonesia.</P><P>Despite the threats, lawyers representing Gaga's tour production company reportedly met with Jakarta police today to negotiate the conditions necessary for the concert to go on as scheduled. A Jakarta police spokesman has said that for the concert to go ahead, concert promoters need to secure permits from the tourism ministry and the concert venue owner, in addition to ensuring Gaga "is dressed appropriately and does not violate cultural norms in this country."</P><P>Gaga also <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2012/05/21/showbiz/gaga-manila/index.html" target="_blank">encountered protests</a> in the Philippines from conservative Christian groups ahead of her concerts in Manila, but seemed in good spirits despite the controversy, <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/ladygaga/status/204844867359211520" target="_blank">tweeting</a>, "And don't worry, if I get thrown in jail in Manila, Beyonce will just bail me out. Sold out night 2 in the Philippines. I love it here!"</p>

Let it Slide is an engaging, difficult puzzle game
The idea is very simple, and far from original: You get a board with pieces arranged in a particular pattern; you have to slide those around until you get the special piece into its target location.
It's not even about finding out where the target location is - you can just hover over "dim tiles" and instantly see where you're supposed to bring the special piece. But getting it there is a whole different story.
There are five tutorial levels, which I strongly recommend you do. Then there are twenty "beginner" levels, but that's really a misnomer. If those are the beginner levels, I don't want to know what the intermediate and advanced levels look like!
Every time you finish a level you get a score based on how many clicks it took you - each level has a "par" (the minimum number of clicks it could be completed in), and your performance is compared to that gold standard. Because it's such a brainy game, getting it right is quite satisfying. I was downright proud of myself when I managed to finish a few levels. All in all, quite recommended, especially if you've got a few minutes of quiet. It might actually help you focus better later on.

Ke$ha Gives Flaming Lips Frontman His First-Ever Toe Tattoo
Wayne Coyne talks about what happens when you work with 'freaks' like Ke$ha on The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends.

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/flaming_lips/artist.jhtml">Flaming Lips</a> mastermind Wayne Coyne took away more than just <a href="http://pitchfork.com/news/46404-flaming-lips-blood-vinyl-10-copies-2500-features-keha-erykah-badu-nick-cave-chris-martin-blood/" target="_blank">a vial of blood</a> when he traveled to Nashville to record with <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/kesha_/artist.jhtml">Ke$ha</a>. (Though, really, you'd think that would be enough.) He also left with his first-ever tattoo ... not to mention a newfound respect for the wild-child pop star.</P><P>"Most of the time, if someone's willing to work with me, they're going to be a freak. And Ke$ha ... I sort of thought that she would be a freak, I'd heard about her and we'd tried to get a hold of her earlier," Coyne told MTV News backstage at the <a href="/news/articles/1685474/dave-matthews-band-hangout-fest.jhtml">Hangout Fest</a> in Gulf Shores, Alabama. "We showed up at her house, and she has a tattoo gun that she gives everyone a tattoo with, so within 20 minutes of being at her house, I had a tattoo on my toe; it's the only tattoo I've ever had.</P><P>"We were set to do this one song that I had prepared, and we went into the studio that night, and stayed there until about 2 in the morning, and did four songs, just making stuff up," he continued. "And the next day [we] worked for another couple hours. She's funny, she's gracious, she's imaginative, she's creative and she's <i>a lot</i> of fun to be around."</P><P>The result of that collaboration (a song called "2012") shows up on the Lips' special Record Store Day double-LP, <i>The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends,</i> a thoroughly out-there collection of songs and sound-collages that — as the title implies — the band recorded with the likes of Bon Iver, Nick Cave, Neon Indian, Yoko Ono and, uh, Coldplay's Chris Martin ... to name just a few. But will fans get to hear even <i>more</i> of the Flaming Lips/Ke$ha team-up? Well, Coyne certainly hopes so.</P><P>"We really loved making this music together — I think I've probably done six or seven songs with her — and I know a lot of her fans like ['2012'], but I don't know if we'll put more songs out there," he said. "She has other agendas besides doing music with Wayne, you know, but I hope so, because I think it's really great, crazy, <i>unexpected</i> music. And she, to her credit, loves what we do. She wants it to be whatever. She has no limits of what she wants it to be."</P><P>And don't think the <i>Heady Fwends</i> sessions will be the last time Coyne and Ke$ha share time (or blood) in the studio. If anything, the Lips' recent output of, uh, <i>non-traditional</i> releases — songs encased in gummy skulls and fetuses, 24-hour noise-jam freakouts that <a href="http://flaminglipstwentyfourhoursong.com/" target="_blank">play for all eternity</a>, limited-edition vinyl filled with actual blood, etc — suggests Coyne and Co. are just getting started ... and they're going to get even weirder before they're finished.</P><P>"That's been the beautiful thing about all of these weird collaborations and projects; you work with <i>freaks.</i> Even working with someone like Chris Martin, he's very open to, like, 'Let's do stuff!' That's the great surprise about it," Coyne said. "I don't think people are surprised when we work with a group like Lightning Bolt or Neon Indian — people think of us as like-minded — but the surprising thing with the Chris Martins or the Ke$has, they're like us too, they just don' play music that sounds like that all the time."</p>

<P>"Glee" has already dedicated entire episodes to <a href="/news/articles/1637098/madonna-gives-props-glee-episode.jhtml">Madonna</a>, <a href="/news/articles/1648829/britney-spears-glee-episode-everything-need-know.jhtml">Britney Spears</a> and <a href="/news/articles/1639871/glee-lady-gaga-episode-fantastic-matthew-morrison.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a>, and come 2012, it's the King of Pop's turn.</P><P>A rumored set list for the January 24 "Glee" Michael Jackson tribute episode has hit the Web, and it features some of the late singer's greatest hits. <a href="http://perezhilton.com/2011-12-27-glee-michael-jackson-tribute-episode-setlist#.TvoRm0rkk7A" target="_blank">Perez Hilton</a> reports that 14 tracks have made the final cut, although the list has yet to be confirmed by anyone connected with the show.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="'Glee' Cast Members Talk Michael Jackson Episode" id="vid:549513.id:1645343" width="240" height="211"></div><p></P><P>The set list (along with who will perform the track) reportedly includes "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' " (Blaine), "Bad" (the New Directions and the Warblers), "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" (Finn and Rachel), "Smooth Criminal" (Santana and Sebastian), "Never Can Say Goodbye" (Quinn), "In the Closet" (Brittany and Santana), "We Are the World" (the New Directions and the Warblers), "Black and White" (Puck), "Ghost"/"Monster" (New Directions), "Beat It"/"Billie Jean" (Warblers), "The Way You Make Me Feel" (Kurt) and "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" (Artie).</P><P>This is hardly the first time the show has paid homage to Jackson. (Pretty Young Thing)" and "Man in the Mirror."</P><P>Back in 2010, the cast of the hit Fox show had only imagined what it would be like to have an entire <a href="http://hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/2010/08/09/glee-michael-jackson/">episode dedicated to Jackson</a>. "I would love to do a Michael Jackson episode," Amber Riley told MTV News at the time. "You know, it's so many [songs that I love], but my favorite song by him is 'Human Nature.' I love that song."</P><P>While Riley seemed psyched about the opportunity, castmate Jenna Ushkowitz found the possibility a little more daunting. "That's a scary, scary episode to do," she said. Bing begins roll out of HTML5-enhanced search interface
The most notable addition to the new interface is is smooth page transitions -- the fade in and out -- and navigation tabs (maps, images, videos, etc.) now persistently float at the top of the page. WinRumors is also reporting that a feature reminiscent of Google Instant search is being added to Bing, with page elements smoothly transitioning in and out as you type in your search query.
If you want to try out the new Bing UI, your best bet is to set your locale to United States - English and pray that you're part of the initial roll out. Alternatively, just wait a few days until MIX 2011, Microsoft's Web developer conference, which is when the new Bing UI should be officially launched.

Lenovo LePhone K800 launches, officially brings Medfield to China
At CES 2012, Lenovo was the first to announce a Medfield-powered smartphone: the K800. And while it was the first to be unveiled, it couldn't beat the Lava Xolo X900 to market. Lenovo's not too worried about that, however, as the K800 has arrived in China right on schedule, having originally aimed for a Q2 launch and later refining the timeframe to the end of May. The fruits of Intel's labor can be had for the grand 'ol retail price of RMB 3,299 ($524), which gets you a 1.6GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, Android 2.3, a 4.5-inch 720p display, an 8MP rear camera and 16GB of internal storage. We haven't heard any news of the phone reaching across the Pacific, but we're sure that won't stop the most insistent of you from grabbing a unit through alternative methods, right?

Let it Slide is an engaging, difficult puzzle game
The idea is very simple, and far from original: You get a board with pieces arranged in a particular pattern; you have to slide those around until you get the special piece into its target location.
It's not even about finding out where the target location is - you can just hover over "dim tiles" and instantly see where you're supposed to bring the special piece. But getting it there is a whole different story.
There are five tutorial levels, which I strongly recommend you do. Then there are twenty "beginner" levels, but that's really a misnomer. If those are the beginner levels, I don't want to know what the intermediate and advanced levels look like!
Every time you finish a level you get a score based on how many clicks it took you - each level has a "par" (the minimum number of clicks it could be completed in), and your performance is compared to that gold standard. Because it's such a brainy game, getting it right is quite satisfying. I was downright proud of myself when I managed to finish a few levels. All in all, quite recommended, especially if you've got a few minutes of quiet. It might actually help you focus better later on.

VW Beetle Convertible to Launch with ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s Editions at L.A. Show

Internet Trends report finds online growth driven by China and India, users increasingly mobile
You probably don't need a 112 slide PowerPoint presentation from Mary Meeker and the venture capital firm KPCB to tell you this, but the Internet, she's getting bigger. Every year more and more people sign on and, not surprisingly, many of the 663 million netizens added over the last three years have come from developing nations like China and India. In fact, since 2008, China has accounted for almost a third of new web users, adding 215 million to the connected population. What also shouldn't come as a shock, is that the boon in connectivity is also being pushed by the broader availability of 3G data connections. Areas like India, China and Vietnam have all seen triple digit percentage growths in 3G penetration since last year. Wireless broadband has really exploded in India, where year over year growth in subscribers was 841 percent, though, that still only equates to a four percent penetration rate.
